In her roles as wife, mommy, sister, friend, speaker, therapist, and writer, Dawn's greatest passion is for others to vividly experience God in their own lives. Her desire is to witness a movement of people discovering and then relaying their own insatiable hunger for God to others, thereby creating a generation of "living influences."
A dynamic presenter, Dawn has presented workshops on such topics as spiritual disciplines, eating issues, overcoming fear, intimacy with God, parenting, and authenticity in relationships. Those who have seen Dawn present comment on her humor, genuineness, practical application, warmth, and ability to connect her audience with Jesus.
Along with her speaking engagements and former private practice, Dawn offers a wealth of experience and expertise. She received her master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Bethel Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota in 2002. She became a wife in 2006 and a mother in 2008. God has used all of these schools to shape her more into a Christ-lover and to challenge her to depend more deeply on Him. Since completing her Masters, Dawn worked as a parent and family educator in the chemical dependency field. At the adolescent chemical dependency treatment center where she worked, Dawn led and facilitated lectures, groups, and family sessions. In this position Dawn worked with over 3,000 parents and families. Dawn is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Minnesota.
In a daring step of faith, Dawn opened Living Influence, an organization that combined public events with one-on-one counseling as a method to experiencing the heart of God. For 10 years, Dawn had the privilege of witnessing hundreds of healed marriages, restored relationships, a-ha moments and intimate experiences with God.
Today, Dawn has been promoted to influencing three world-changers: ages 5, 3, and 2 years. If she appears tired when you meet her, this is why. Now an official homeschooler, Dawn is delighted to have found a path where she can connect with her kids through learning and collectively experience God's heart in each area of study. Dawn is married to a wonderful husband whom God has used to bless her and redeem aspects of her own family story. They treasure their time together as a family and strive to experience God together through first steps, tantrums, and macaroni and cheese .
Dawn considers her work with others an honor and a privilege. She is grateful for the opportunity to incorporate into her work today the emotional and spiritual healing she has personally received in the past. Helping her kids, her fellow mom friends, and sometimes even the Target cashier experience Jesus in a real way captures Dawn's purpose and excites her each morning.
